I recently watched a documentary about the many dangerous chemicals that are in so many of the products people use every day. People think that by lobbying and changing the laws, or by demanding that companies remove harmful chemicals from their products, will solve the problem. But, the last thing we need is another ambiguous law, which must then be enforced. We need radical change! We need radical change now.
The only way to get our message across is to stop purchasing those products. These mega corporations whose only concern is profit, cannot maintain their power if we refuse to buy their products. There are now many natural products that are available and the reality is, that many of these products are not actually needed. Many cleaning products can be replaced with simple white vinegar and baking soda, both of which are all natural and completely safe. Instead of fighting the battle to have glyphosates (Roundup®) banned in our country, why not simply refuse to buy this product, or any chemical product? Become proactive by sharing its dangers with family, friends, your neighborhood, your town, city, and state. Introduce alternatives (sustainable gardening practices) and ban together in your community. Refuse to patronize those stores that carry herbicides and pesticides, and let their managers know why you won’t shop there anymore. Become the first garden center in your community to offer only 100% organic products. Become the first town or city to ban the use of all herbicides and pesticides. If we stop purchasing their products, these companies cannot survive. I challenge you – what radical change are you willing to make today?
