I have adhered to the wisdom of the now late Louise Hay, to be found in her well known book, You Can Heal Your Life. According to Louise, all disease (dis-ease) begins in the mind. Most people, upon hearing this, are quick to disagree, siting numerous physical “facts” that scientists have shown to be the cause of various ailments.
I do not argue with what scientists and doctors espouse. Clearly, the science supports their findings. The problem is that they do not look beyond what their science shows. Something else causes those physical interactions and provides the intelligence to bring about such manifestations. Whether it is a virus, a cancer, or a baby forming within a womb, it is that something else that organizes it into being.
As a metaphysicist, I know that our thoughts are the creative power that fuels our experiences. We are what we think. We create whatever it is we believe, beyond any shadow of doubt. Fear and love are the two strongest emotions that human beings experience. Fear can be disguised as many other emotions, such as hate, jealousy, or greed. These negative emotions become cancers in the body. Love and acceptance, on the other hand, ensures health and overall well-being.
Childhood diseases are the ones that most will argue, cannot possibly have been caused by the child. Oftentimes, it is the parent’s fears that are projected upon the child, that bring about illness or mishap. In other cases, the child can have underlying fears that go unnoticed by the parent. If there is tension in the home, bullying or other problems at school, the child may be harboring unspoken fears. Maybe she is afraid that her parents will divorce, or if a parent is ill, she may be afraid they might die. While these fears go un-voiced and overlooked, they become a slow poison in the child’s body that can result in sickness or an accident.
We are complex systems with many aspects that work together, to create the whole of who we are. We are a combination of things – thoughts, emotions, what we eat, our genetic disposition, our upbringing, our physiology, our physicality, and the environment we live in. When we are confronted with a health problem, it is imperative to look at all of these parts of ourselves in order to understand its origin. We cannot simply dissect our body, mistakenly believing that a particular organ alone is defective, and is the source of the problem. That organ is merely the depository for the poisoning that has infiltrated the body. It is not the cause. Simply treating the symptoms will not affect the basis of its inception.
Science will never be able to understand fully that which cannot be fully understood. Our bodies are merely the physical manifestation of something much greater. If we are willing to listen, our soul will reveal to us what we need to know, to heal any disease that we have unwittingly created. Eckhart Tolle posed the question in an interview on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday, “When you hear that voice inside your head, who is listening?” Recently, I looked in the mirror and asked myself, “Who is that looking back at me?” She is the one with the answers I seek.
