With great power comes great responsibility. These words were first spoken by Voltaire, a French philosopher from the 18th century. Human beings have been given great power, not in musculature, like large predators, but in the use of our brain. Unfortunately, many have abused this power and most are not even aware that they have it. Our over-thinking and analytical minds have led us astray more often than not. Too many humans have shirked their responsibility to the earth, its elements, and the very life that it provides for us.
When people allow their thinking to carry them off into a stream of negativity, it allows the ego to grow disproportionately. The ego was meant to remain in the background as an assurance of self-preservation, but too many people have allowed their egos to take over and their lives then run amok creating endless problems. The ego spreads over one’s life and the lives around it, like a dark, inky cloud blocking out the light.
Life was once beautiful and this amazing planet of ours maintained a balance of dark and light. In recent years, it has become very dark indeed. We must summon the light. We must open ourselves up to the love that is the very energy and creative force that created life in the first place. We must become vessels through which that light can shine. We must open up our hearts and love with all our might, before it is too late. It takes light to dispel darkness. It takes love to dissolve hate. There is no other way.
