I fail to understand why our government spends billions of dollars on sending missiles into outer space while millions of children on this planet, and even in our own country, are going hungry every day. Still more billions are spent on military preparedness and the manufacture of deadly weapons while thousands of people are homeless. Should we not be using our country’s wealth to clean up the messes that we have made of our oceans, our rivers, and our precious land?
While we prepare for a war that could be ignited at any moment on the whim of a power hungry leader, we ignore what is right in front of us. We tend to create that which we focus our attention on. If we are focused on war or focused on reaching some distant destination, how can we expect to cultivate peace? We cannot expect love to grow where we have sown seeds of hatred. We must pray for peace if we are to avoid war. We must pray for our enemies if we are to resolve conflict.
Whether or not the current impeachment efforts succeed in booting Trump from office, the only way to successfully deal with him, is to pray for him. We must pray for his happiness if we are to see his contempt and deceit transmuted. We must pray for a new leader who will lead with integrity. We must raise our collective consciousness. The dark shadow cast by Trump can only be defeated if we allow our collective light to dissolve it.
