During the mid-1800’s French biologist Louis Pasteur introduced his well-known germ theory. At the end of his life, after a colleague had shown him the errors in his theory, he announced, ““Bernard was right; the pathogen is nothing; the terrain is everything.” Bernard had shown that organisms are in fact, changeable and capable of mutation. However; by this time the medical community had realized the great profits that could be made with the introduction of pasteurization and also, the manufacture and dispensing of immunizations.
In 1996, Lasik surgery was approved by the FDA. Now, the former advisor to the FDA, who had originally approved the procedure, is imploring that it be removed from the market, since many people have been blinded and suffered other complications as a result of having obtained the surgery. He argues that for those who opt to get the surgery, in terms of health, there is nothing wrong with the person’s eyes. They can have comparable results with simply wearing glasses. A similar argument can be made for numerous surgical procedures that doctors pressure their patients to have, especially in the cosmetic industry. An infinite number of “standard” medical procedures are absolutely unnecessary, but they ensure grandiose profits for the doctor, his staff, and the pharmaceutical companies.
Are we not simply becoming human guinea pigs for the medical and scientific community? Most of the drugs that have been approved, have been made so with very limited study into long term effects; and the numerous side effects are simply glazed over as impertinent. Those chemical manufacturers that produce the many pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, must constantly create something still more lethal, because these organisms are capable of mutating and developing immunity to the poisons they are constantly assaulted with. This alone, is proof that Pasteur’s final realization was correct.
How can we continue to believe that it is safe to subject our bodies to unknown and little understood chemical concoctions and to invasive procedures and surgeries? We must learn to honor the intelligence that already resides within our bodies and turn a deaf hear to the pressure of salesmen who seek only to profit from our vulnerability. Beware of those who sell only lies in their effort to manipulate you. Trust your body and the messages it sends you. Trust your heart. Trust your gut. Believe in health – not sickness.
