11 OCTOBER 2019 ISSUES

Last night I watched a news segment with Beto O’Rourke, one of the democratic candidates running for the 2020 election. People from the audience were allowed to ask him questions, but most of the questions revolved around transgender inequality. One woman grabbed the microphone and mounted her own little soap box, taking up a good portion of his allotted time. What bothered me is that none of the really important issues – like global warming and world peace – were brought up.

I agree that discrimination of all kinds must cease. Every human being must be treated as equal, regardless of anything. Why are we so eager to put people in boxes and label them as this, that, or the other? If a person is gay and later has a sex change, is he still gay? What concerns me is that there are so many people struggling with gender identity to begin with. As with so many other issues, why do we always look to fix only the symptom and make no attempt to search for the cause? Women have been taking hormones, birth control, and every drug imaginable, for several decades now. Many people have grown up on foods and beverages containing growth hormones and any number of other undisclosed substances and drugs. Have any studies been done to determine how these chemicals affect a growing fetus? Is it possible that a child’s mother, because of those products she has consumed, or the diet that a child has been raised on, is influencing his or her predominant gender? Why has sex become the predominant issue controlling our world? Sex has been used to sell products since television became the god in everyone’s living room. Instead of being obsessed with sex or sex orientation, should we not be more concerned that we are producing happy, healthy human beings?

I was surprised to learn that very young children are being labeled as transgender. An eight year old has been put on hormones to suppress puberty so that when he is of legal age, he can have surgery to change his gender. Apparently this is becoming more common, but these individuals must often take hormones for the remainder of their lives. Big Pharma and the few medical doctors who perform this surgery stand to make a lot of money. I think we need to dig deeper into what is really going on here. Manipulation by the media, psychiatrists, medical professionals, and not to mention, those corporations that control our world, has blindsided the public. They have no regard for the emotional pain that these children are going through. Those struggling with gender identity have become the guinea pigs for those who stand to profit from their problems.

The issues talked about in last night’s interview are important. They are not; however, the determining factor for who should become our next president. They are ego driven problems. Given the scope of challenges that Earth’s environment is facing, it is important to keep these issues in perspective.
